SRMCB: Godzilla (Minus 1.0/Minus Zero)

Gojira, the beast of Odo Island and the Terror of Tokyo

Many have dared to look into the unknown. Humanity continues to push on, and they make mistakes on the way. They say you learn from your mistakes, but sometimes... you have to face what they've become. In a country wrecked by World War II, some people realize despite the treaties signed, this war isn't over yet.

Before We Begin

Hey there, Pegasus here!

I solely made this blog by myself after realizing how hype the Minus Zero trailer was, and I kinda don't remember seeing a proper blog on this man, so I made this all from scratch!

For sources, I used Minus One (duh) like I watched the whole movie, that's the Internet Archive link which I'll post again later because you'll need it for the feats and scaling. Some statements from the director, Takashi Yamazaki, and some scans and calcs from VSBW.

You will also notice Minus Zero content in italicized text. Take these with a grain of salt, as all of these come from the trailer. However, I will put an asterisk (*) on Minus Zero stuff that you can probably just take at face value, which is not that much but you'll see them in the durability section...

But yeah, considering how this takes from Minus Zero's trailer, you should go ahead and watch it first. You'll really like it even if you haven't watched Minus One, I reckon, go watch that now, you'll find a link later to see that.

There will be a little bit of content that some readers might find unsuitable because this guy is a menace and slimes a lot of people in the movie on screen (Me personally, I'm not over that part where he just stepped on the ground so hard it uprooted and a bunch of people were turned into ragdolls)

I can't believe I made this in one day LOL

But yeah,

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR GODZILLA MINUS ONE AND ZERO!

pretty much.

Background

The year was 1944. The World Wars were coming to an end. The Japanese, despite all their efforts, all their kamikazees... could not prevail. They could not win, yet they kept sacrificing their soldiers like it was nothing.

Sometime around this period, on Odo Island, kamikaze pilot Shikishima bailed on his purpose by feigning his plane was off. The lead mechanic Tachibana understood, and they sat in silence. Little did they know, the fish would rise from above the water, signaling an omen of death. That night, Godzilla struck the base, killing everyone but Shikishima and Tachibana, but leaving them scarred forever.

Years later, in the first Bikini Atoll tests, Godzilla was caught and struck. He transformed into something much beyond his original shell... becoming taller, and more monstrous. He only saught one thing: revenge on those who caused him suffering. So he traveled to Japan, and left destruction in his wake. Godzilla left an impact on the country. And despite WWII having passed, the war was not over.

In the end, humans teamed up, and learned to value each other more and more. This was Godzilla's foil, and it would lead to his demise, being melted by his own power, crumbling into dust. Finally, this personal war was over, and Shikishima and others could finally rest happy, knowing they saved Japan...

...Or did they? For all who knows, it lurks down there, they say it's at the bottom of the Sagami Trench, and it'll come back once more.

Skill

This jit an idiot tbh.

Okay in all seriousness, he's been around for millions of years considering the likeness to a dinosaur, and when he was being lifted up to the surface, he did perform a high IQ feat and cut the inflatables lifting him up to stop the plan, so I guess that's noteworthy. There's also when the veterans deployed a recording of his voice to bait him into thinking that he had a competitor in his territory, so he just chucked their ships with the speakers at them. However, it's unknown whether he just did this because they were in his way or because if he's intelligent.

Abilities

Godzilla Physiology

While it's unknown what Godzilla is at large, people liken it to some kind of giant dinosaur at the very least, calling it a beast. It's got really tough skin, far beyond any normal animal in this world. It was also mutated by nuclear bomb tests and turned much larger while being able to channel radiation through it's mouth.

Superhuman Endurance

Of course we know he's not a human. But as stated above, Godzilla can seemingly swim for hours if not weeks on end, and considering he also might be a living nuclear reactor, he's probably got a lot of stamina. He can also go on despite having used his atomic breath, which is implied to burn his insides a little.

Fear Manipulation

On Odo Island, when Shikishima gazed at it trying to fire his 20mm gun, he was utterly helpless and paralyzed in fear, unable to move or do anything to shoot.

Regeneration

Godzilla's a really really mean bitch. Just like Springtrap, he always comes back.

But yeah, this Godzilla has some pretty crazy regeneration. It's first mentioned that it somewhat helped in him recuperating from the atom bomb tests. However, after mutating, it becomes a lot better, enabling it to regenerate after having parts of it's head blown off. Most famously, it was active when Godzilla collapsed into fragments of itself, still regenerating as shown at the end of the film. Minus Zero states it was "blown to pieces"* as well, which signifies High-Mid regeneration on VSBW.

Godzilla Cells

At the end of Minus One, Noriko is shown to have some kind of black mark on her neck. The director Yamazaki confirms this as the influence of Godzilla's cells. We don't know much, but it grants him the following.

Atomic Heat Ray

Like all Godzillas, we have a heat ray. Now this heat ray is specially charged, having his dorsal plates sprout out as he sucks in air, before they converge and he just spits out a massive fucking beam of destruction. And while it has a dramatically long change, it's got one rare thing that most other Godzilla's don't. Instead of piercing through or burning enemies on contact, this thing causes a ONE HUNDRED FUCKING KILOTON NUKE.

In short, he's able to literally nuke the area. He does this with the Takao, vaporizing the ship, some other two decoy ships, obliterating them, and most famously in Ginza, wiping out the entire city. This unleashes a shockwave capable of utterly destroying any building caught in it or causing massive tidal waves.

This is also likened to a nuclear bomb, as after firing it, scientists discovered nuclear emissions coming from wreckage. It also most notably caused some sort of black rain (3:20), which is actually radioactive tar and soot coming down from the sky. (I'm kinda surprised how Shikishima just stood in that rain while already injured and was kinda fine)

Gravity Manipulation

While vague, it's shown in the Minus Zero trailer that some kind of blue aura was lifting buildings high into the air, where airplanes usually fly, and considering it's a blue aura, it's likely Godzilla doing this, but we have yet to see what these powers actually are. But it's most likely gravity manipulation.

  • Outright stated to be able to survive a thermonuclear blast* (At least 1.2 Megatons of TNT)

Scaling

Misc.

Since Godzilla is likely the strongest in the verse, except for maybe the Ghidorah shaped elephant in the room, he should definitely scale to the uh very large amount of feats that aren't his... Yeah these humans are kinda featless... but we have the secret gravity beams showcased in the Minus Zero trailer, so I guess we'll mention that, seeing as he's DEFINITELY fighting that bastard anyways.
  • Shikishima survived his plane exploding, although it was from a distance away and he was knocked out cold until daytime (7:57)
  • Shikishima, while flying, could react to and swerve out of the way of Godzilla trying to get him (1:41:51)
  • Noriko totally reacted to the heat ray's shockwave and shoved Shikishima in tandem! (I guess man)
  • Ghidorah's gravity beams destroy some planes*
  • They also seemingly ravage multiple city blocks
  • Ghidorah likely is the one lifting Godzilla into the air and dropping him down in the first place

Weaknesses

Despite all it's brawn, Godzilla is easily to provoke, as when Shikishima shot at it, it got like really pissed and tried to catch him. It also has a critical weakness, and that's the inside of it's body is far weaker than it's outside skin, so when it's charging it's laser, you can just pull an Independence Day and bomb the inside of it's mouth, which causes it to kind of melt. R.I.P. Even without it charging, hitting it inside the mouth can cause it to stop moving long enough to deal some damage. He also has to recharge his atomic breath after using it for a small amount of time.

One Last Thing

SOLAR SYSTEM LEVEL ATOMIC BREATH???

Summary

  • Attack Potency: at least 68 Tons of TNT physically, 17.5 Megatons of TNT with the Heat Ray

    • Fear Manipulation
    • (High-Mid) Regeneration
    • Radiation Manipulation
    • Possible Gravity Manipulation

Possible Opponents

MINUS ONE VS YORU???? VS GUN DEVIL?????? WHAT????????

Anyways for actual opponents...

I mean, he technically did fight Hulk (and his atomic breath killed him Outerversal Minus One lfg)

A Final Word
